Air Screwdrivers

Choosing the right air screwdriver is not easy because there are a lot of different models available. Generally, an air screwdriver is applying its torque with a dynamically or direct applied torque of the air motor. A gearing is transmitting the low torque of the fast moving air motor to the slower moving output shaft. Therefore you can reach output torques from 0.1 to over 2,000 Nm. According to your requirements in accuracy and tolerances you can choose between the following methods to apply the torque to the fastener:
non-shut-off nutrunners (direct drive)
shut-off screwdriver with cushion clutch
shut-off screwdriver with precision SO-clutch
Similar to dc tools you have to consider the reaction torque when using hand tools without reaction bar or other supports. The torque applied to the fastener is producing also a reaction torque (Newton's second law) to the operator. We recommend a limit for anglehead tools of 60 Nm without reaction bar, 3 - 4 Nm with straigth tools, and 6 Nm for pistol tools. Operating with higher torques and no reaction bar can lead to injuries for the operator.
Air Nutrunners with Precision Shut-Off Clutch
Air nutrunners with precision shut-off clutches are fitting to critical joints with high precision. You can use them for joints where the material is demanding the tool very much like metal on metal, plastics, or composite parts. To set-up the torque you do not need to disasseble the tool but use an secured opening in the front part of the tool. As the clutch is produced with a high quality to deliver its accuracy it is also very durable which decreases your lifecycle costs dramatically.
Shut-Off Screwdrivers with Cushion Clutch
Shut-off screwdrivers with cushion clutch are the ideal tool for assemblies with medium accuracy but where you want the tool to shut off and not the operator to stop the tool manually. The clutch with steel balls delivers accurate shut off cycles with high duarablity and low fatigue for the worker as the vibration and reaction during shut off is low.
Direct Drive Screwdrivers
Direct drive screwdrivers are ideal for soft joints like wooden assemblies and other soft materials where you do not need high accuracy. The applied torque is controlled by the operator as he releases the trigger at the right time. You can also adjust the applied torque when you reduce the air pressure for the tool.
