Air Screwdrivers

Choosing the right air screwdriver is not easy because there are a lot of different models available. Generally, an air screwdriver is applying its torque with a dynamically or direct applied torque of the air motor. A gearing is transmitting the low torque of the fast moving air motor to the slower moving output shaft. Therefore you can reach output torques from 0.1 to over 2,000 Nm. According to your requirements in accuracy and tolerances you can choose between the following methods to apply the torque to the fastener:
non-shut-off nutrunners (direct drive)
shut-off screwdriver with cushion clutch
shut-off screwdriver with precision SO-clutch
Similar to dc tools you have to consider the reaction torque when using hand tools without reaction bar or other supports. The torque applied to the fastener is producing also a reaction torque (Newton's second law) to the operator. We recommend a limit for anglehead tools of 60 Nm without reaction bar, 3 - 4 Nm with straigth tools, and 6 Nm for pistol tools. Operating with higher torques and no reaction bar can lead to injuries for the operator.
